Free Cantonese Theology Q & A meeting In the past 10 years, China Horizon has been conducting courses and seminars in Bible doctrine with the conviction that the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant Word, and that there is a body of doctrine contained in the Bible, which we must study to know, love, obey, share, and defend. Dr. Samuel Ling (M.Div., Th.M, Westminster Theological Seminary), President of Covenant Institute and China Horizon (http://www.chinahorizon.org) has conducted seminary-level theological training courses in the DC area in Mandarin. On December 3, 2009, China Horizon and Covenant Institute will conduct a free theological Q & A in Cantonese at Chinese Christian Church in Silver Spring at 7:30 pm. We encourage you and invite friends to attend this special meeting, please don’t miss.

• Those in need of healing and strength we know who are undergoing medical treatment.  Pray also for those who provide support and care.  Pray that those suffering will find peace and courage as they trust God.

• For those involved in discipleship lessons – may God’s Word become a lamp in their daily lives.
• Pray for those who find the holidays a lonely and depressing time.  Make us aware of how and where to reach out.
• Pray that those going to missions’ conferences in December will be encouraged to take a more active role in missions from what they learn and experience at the conferences

Pray for needs of the church:

• That God will take charge of the fund-raising efforts for the sanctuary renovation and that each of us will be committed to providing support
• Praise God for his faithfulness to the Mandarin congregation as they celebrate 10 years of ministry today
• Pray that our Advent programs will truly help us prepare for the birth of our King!
• Thank God for a successful Mandarin outreach program on Thanksgiving Day.  Pray that He will cultivate the seeds that were planted and CCC will continue to sow and water in this area where the harvest is plentiful.  Pray for wisdom and perseverance among the coworkers.
• Pray that God will help us make prayer and thanksgiving a lifestyle attitude.

1. Free Cantonese Theology Q & A meeting In the past 10 years, China Horizon has been conducting courses and seminars in Bible doctrine with the conviction that the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant Word, and that there is a body of doctrine contained in the Bible, which we must study to know, love, obey, share, and defend. Dr. Samuel Ling, President of Covenant Institute and China Horizon (http://www.chinahorizon.org) has conducted seminary-level theological training courses in the DC area in Mandarin. On December 3, 2009, China Horizon and Covenant Institute will conduct a free theological Q & A in Cantonese at Chinese Christian Church in Silver Spring at 7:30 pm. We encourage you and invite friends to attend this special meeting, please don’t miss.

3. 2009 DC Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation CCC will be recognized as well as all the firms/agencies (Rippeteau Architects, PC, Worcester Eisenbrandt, Inc., Robert Silman Associates, Gould Property Company, and EHT Traceries) involved in the exterior renovation project of the church this past year at an awards event on November 18, 2009 at the DC Court of Appeals (430 E Street, NW).  Please note that anyone who would like to come along to be in the audience may do so.  The event is free, but one must register in advance at 202-783-5144 or at www.dcpreservation.org.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Help us tell children around the world about the love of Jesus by filling a shoe box with gifts which will be supplemented with Christian literature and sent to children who do not know Jesus. You may also bring small gift items (school supplies, small toys, hard candies, etc) and the Sunday School children will pack the shoe boxes.  Look for the collection box outside the nursery Room 202.  Directions and brochure are on the bulletin board leading to the Hung Memorial Hall.  Deadline is Thanksgiving Sunday, November 22, 2009.

2.        FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION The Cantonese Fellowship has planned a special outing to the National Arboretum, 3501 New York Avenue, NE followed by lunch at the church on Saturday, June 20, 2009.  Transportation will be provided from the church at 9:30 am for those needing a ride.  Please contact Pui Han or Monica for details or to make reservations.

• Pray for our graduates, that their next steps are guided by God’s vision for them.
• Pray for our children – as summer recess begins, pray for safety, renewal, and productivity that is acceptable to God.

Pray for needs of the church:

• Pray for the planning of summer activities in the church – the annual picnic, the Summer Retreat, the mission trips, the children’s program.
• Pray for the English Associate Pastor search – that we may trust God’s timing for scheduling and leading His chosen one to us.
• Pray for the sanctuary renovation phase of the church – that our architect will find creative ways to meet our needs and challenges. Pray for unity of spirit as we discuss the details of design and fundraising.
• Pray for the strengthening of the restaurant fellowship outreach
• Pray for the Official Board as they discuss and determine policies and  programs for the church.

Pray for individual spiritual growth:

• By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35 It is possible with our persistence and the Holy Spirit to love someone into the kingdom. Is there someone you know who is not yet saved that you can pray for and lead to Christ?
• Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2 Think of one’s own rough edges and how others have loved you in spite of them. Can we do likewise?

• The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. Psalm 29:3,4 When the thunder boomed this week, did we remember that God’s power was behind it and can also be behind us?
