Prayers

Always be joyful. Never stop praying.  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  • Thank God for His great love and care.
  • Thank God for the gentler temperatures which lifted our spirits this past week.
  • Thank God for the precious time He sits with us even when we dominate the conversation with our desires rather than our devotion to Him.  He loves us anyway!
  • Thank God He never leaves us without resources to do His will.
  • No matter the origin of Valentine’s Day, thank God for his explanation of Christian love in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7:  Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. May God give us strength to live out this love.
  • Pray that we may be exhausted for God, bringing Good News and care to His people, but also remember to replenish our power supply from Him.
  • Pray for our children to be strong and wise enough to apply Christian truths they learn at home and in church as they live in a world that often teaches conflicting values.
  • Pray for grace to love and accept those who do not know Christ, waiting for an opportunity to share, and praying that God may touch their hearts.
  • Pray for those affected by economic instability.
  • Pray for missionary families, especially the spouses and children who work tirelessly to support the missionary’s ministry goals.
  • Pray for courage to seek a place to serve in God’s church rather than robbing God’s people of the unique contribution each persona makes.  It takes all God’s children for His Kingdom to run smoothly.
  • Pray for God’s protection for ourselves and others from our own careless thoughts, words, and actions.
  • Pray for God’s perfect will to be accomplished in the matters of coronavirus.
  • Ask God to help us walk by the Word and not our feelings.

To Think About

Life is certainly full of unknowns and challenges – they may come from major life transitions, family issues, health scares, natural disasters, financial trouble, or things like coronavirus.  Trying to find our way through these stresses can bring on anxiety.  But Paul, who faced his share of challenges, has a remedy, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6. God invites us to turn over our cares and concerns to Him and because He cares for us, He will show us what to do and give us peace.
