Prayers

Always be joyful. Never stop praying.  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thank you, God:

  • for being our eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:4
  • for filling us up with Your love so that we always have more to give to others.
  • for always having a trustworthy plan for our good.
  • for the blessing of a sunny, warm day in the middle of winter
  • for the encouragement we find in fellowship with other believers

Pray for:

  • peace in our heart, in our families, in our communities, and in our world
  • those we know who are suffering, trusting that He can do “greater works” than we can with our own worldly wisdom
  • those who are struggling with illness and loneliness
  • quieting of our inner voices so that we may hear God speaking
  • perseverance and wisdom for those planning and leading ministry efforts in our church
  • healing for the brokenness in the world
  • our missionaries
  • strengthening of churches, that they may continually share God’s love and Good News in their communities
  • the new small groups in our church, that more will experience the work of the Holy Spirit
  • stability and calm in our everyday life despite the issues raised by COVID
  • daily discovery of nuggets of truth from God’s Word
  • courage to act as Jesus would, even if unpopular, but always unselfishly with obedience to God

To Think About:

When King David wrote Psalm 63, he was in the desert of Judah, a difficult situation, yet he didn’t despair but kept his hope in God.  When we find ourselves in a place of difficulty without clear direction or adequate resources, we may be confused and uncomfortable, yet we are never without the sustaining love of God.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!  I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.  You satisfy me more than the richest feast.  I will praise you with songs of joy.  I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.  Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.  I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely. Psalm 63:3-8.  May we reflect on this love during our Lenten journey, as we consider what Jesus’ suffering and sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection means for our salvation.
