Prayers

Always be joyful. Never stop praying.  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thank you, God:

  • for gentle breezes making the flowers dance
  • for remembering your promises to us even when we forget our promises to You
  • for always listening
  • for gentle nudges and whispers that direct our paths
  • for the power we have to accomplish great things for You. “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22

Pray:

  • that God will help us practice justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
  • for the people whose lives have been torn apart by war; pray for their salvation and courage to endure the struggles of this world.
  • for those in Hong Kong experiencing increased exposure to COVID infection due to the high number of cases and inability of the health care system to handle them.  Pray especially for those whose eternity is not secured in the Lord – may they have an opportunity to hear the Good News soon
  • for those who are struggling with loss; that God will provide comfort and pull them from mourning to trust and strength to persevere for the future
  • that our testimony is not only spoken words but a life that shows Jesus lives within us
  • that though physical frailties may come with growing old, our trust and faithfulness will never wane
  • that we may bear with one another even in our differences understanding that we each have shortcomings, but also the ability to share God’s truth.  Colossians. In 3:13
  • for patience and trust when we don’t understand what God has in store for us
  • for our missionaries who battle many seen and unseen enemies in building God’s kingdom
  • that we may not miss the little joys of the day looking for something big to happen
  • for God to help us with the almost impossible task of developing humility for to do so comes a great promise – Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. James 4:10
  • for God’s help in treasuring the gift of family.  We may not agree with but we do love each of them.
  • that we may continue to learn something new about Jesus every day in our Lenten journey
  • for an opportunity to share Jesus this week with someone

To Think About:

We imagine the downtrodden people of Judah and Israel welcomed the message of hope that prophet Isaiah brought, The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.  Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. Isaiah 35:1-2.  We may view our current world circumstances of virus, war, storms, food insecurity and all other uncertainties as our wilderness and reason for hopelessness.  No matter our situation today, we too can rejoice in the daffodils and crocuses (and cherry blossoms) that are coming to life and restoring us with fresh hope. When we feel down, reflecting on His glory and splendor will bolster us. Our God is able and we can put our hope in Him! Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way;  say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Isaiah 35:3-4
