COVID Safety Practices For In-Person Worship and Sunday School

  • WEARING A MASK INDOORS IS OPTIONAL AS LONG AS VIRUS TRANSMISSION RATE REMAINS LOW, BUT WELLNESS CHECK, HAND HYGIENE AND CONTACT TRACING INFORMATION ARE STILL REQUIRED FOR IN-PERSON WORSHIP.

English Ministry Retreat On March 4th from 11am-6pm, we will be holding a Generations Retreat at church as an in-reach activity for people to get to know one another. We will have a day full of fun activities, food, fellowship, and prizes. All individuals, families, and children are welcome! Cost of attendance is now discounted to $10 per person to help cover the cost of both lunch and dinner. Please RSVP by 2/22. We are also seeking volunteers to help with pre-retreat planning and running the retreat on the day-of. Please fill out the volunteer options in the RSVP form or contact Austen Ouyang if interested.

Membership Classes Forming Now for Easter reception of new members (April 9).  If you are interested in baptism or CCC membership, please contact one of the pastors or the church office.  Deadline to sign-up is February 26, 2023.

Flashback Chinatown D.C. “Flashback: Oral Histories of D.C. Chinatown” is a joint project between filmmaker Penny Lee and 1882 Foundation, with support from Humanities DC, to share unpublished oral histories of residents of D.C.’s Chinatown. Through a series of ten short films, the project showcases the voices of twelve Chinatown residents to tell stories about family, immigration, growing up in D.C., and what the community is like today.  Chinatown Service Center will host the showing of the interviews.  Some of the project participants will also be present to answer questions. All are invited to attend on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 1 pm in the church fellowship hall.

Ash Wednesday Worship Service CCC folks are invited to attend the District Church’s Ash Wednesday, February 22, service which will be held in our sanctuary at 7:00 pm.

Church Offices Closed for the Presidents Day holiday on February 20.

Offerings and Donations are being received during worship services.  Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. Give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:12 NLT. You may also send checks in the mail, add CCC to your Bill Pay service from your bank, or send offering through Pay Pal. Make payable to Chinese Community Church, 500 I Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.  If giving through Pay Pal, avoid fees by designating Friends and Family from your account, not a credit card.  Beginning in 2023 recording of PayPal donations will reflect actual amount church receives (so fees will be deducted if incurred)

  • Monthly Church-wide Prayer Meeting We invite you to join together as a church family for prayer on March 6, 2023 (usually the first Monday of the month) from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Participants may pray in any language, offering only words meant for God. There should be no explanation or self-introduction.  You may pray following the direction of the pastors or for items on your mind at the time. You may come any time during the hour. Legal Clinic, sponsored by Chinatown Service Center and Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am. Translators are provided.  You must reserve a spot with Michelle, 202-898-0061 in order to attend.  She will provide meeting details when you call.

COVID-19 Vaccinations The new booster is now available. Contact your state or the district’s government website or your local health department for more information on vaccinations and testing.  If you or someone you know needs help with getting a vaccination or have questions, please call the Service Center.

The church office and Chinatown Service Center regular office hours are, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.  All visitors must call the respective office to make an appointment before coming in and be informed of safety protocols when entering the church building.  Church office number is 202-637-9852 and Chinatown Service Center number is 202-898-0061.   Our building worker continues to maintain our building following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting against COVID-19.

Precautionary Measures Due to Coronavirus

  • Anyone who has been exposed to coronavirus or tests positive must quarantine. Follow Centers for Disease Control for latest guidance on quarantine period, masking and testing. Report positive test results to info@cccdc.com if you were at the church around the time of infectious period.
  • Follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for protecting yourself – vaccination, wear a mask in areas of high COVID transmission, wash hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, stay home if you feel ill.
  • Consult a doctor if you have a high fever, cough or breathing problems.
  • Be aware of anti-Asian/Chinese sentiments from those who have anger or fear related to the virus’ origins. Call 911 if you feel threatened.
  • Trust God in this and all situations acting as Jesus would to check on people who may need assistance, not giving into fear, verifying information before passing it on, praying often for His protection and trusting Him for the outcome. Our response in any situation is a testimony of our faith.
